BUT, Prom is also the night where if you have too much fun, it might just be the last time you may have fun.
Let this serve as a (and in some cases, another) reminder to be smart this weekend. Some will have a few "drinks". If you do drink, don't drive. For those that will happen to be driving, Pay Attention. If you are going to be out on the sidewalks of the square, Pay Attention. If you are going to be out on any roadway in a car, limo, or not, Pay Attention.
Why? Because if everyone forgot, OHS lost a student back in August because the driver did not Pay Attention to the road and the approaching Stop Sign near Como, MS. An Ole Miss Football player from New Hope last summer was not Paying Attention to the road when he struck an 18-wheeler and died as a result.
If you are going to Prom this weekend, be smart and Pay Attention. Don't Text and Drive, don't Drink and Drive, don't do another activity and Drive. If you are going to talk to someone else in the car, keep your eyes on the road while doing so. Have the majority of your focus on your car and not your drink, your phone, or even your friend, because it could cost you dearly.
This Saturday, pay extra attention to other things. Don't do anything stupid, but have the most fun you can have while staying safe. On, Wednesday you were reminded by the Oxford School District, and now I am reminding you. I do not want to be up at 1:00 AM and hear tragic news come across my Twitter feed.
