#8 - Korbin Harmon
Leading off and playing...nah, you probably won't ever hear me say that while Korbin Harmon is still playing on the Baseball team. Although he is a member of the team that just won the 5A title last week, it is in all likelihood Harmon will be playing Football at a D1 college next year.
Harmon has a pair of offers from Duke and Ohio on the table and more is expected to come over the summer at college camps. He is a top-tier defensive end in the 2016 class. He was second on the team in TFL's with 6 last year. Harmon only posted 65 tackles last year, but much of that was due to him getting constantly double-teamed at the line of scrimmage. That though aided the reasoning behind Oxford's LB corp with each getting 140+ tackles.
Everyone on the offensive side of the ball returned to the 2015 squad. On defense, just a few, and lost every linebacker that started regularly last year. Harmon MUST be a leader on the defensive side of the ball this year.Harmon is going to give opposing offensive lines fits this year and Oxford does return their nose tackle who made several key plays last year.
Although he likely will never see significant playing time on the Baseball field, he is on the team. I don't keep stats for JV games but I would think he has batted somewhere around .100-.150, but of those hits, one was a Triple, two left Trojan Field and went across the Alabama state line, and a couple singles. Harmon does have power and it has shown in the hits he does have. That power though is usually shown on the football field where he is gifted.
It remains to be seen if he will be on the Baseball team or not for next year given his much more successful sport in Football and clearly a future there. Baseball did just win a 5A title, and he has helped lead the Football team to two title appearances. Baseball was certainly fun, but I think a ring in Football would really satisfy his hunger to be successful.
