He came in-between Gibbs and Roth to pitch during the 4th, 5th, 6th and the start of the 7th innings and did not allow a run while Oxford hit its way back into the game and eventually tied it in the 7th then won it in the 8th, but you would not know that if you just read the box score. He managed to really dig out of Oxford some tough holes this year because of his solid pitching on the mound, putting up zeros on the scoreboard when it mattered the most to give his team a chance. He finished with a 2-2 pitching record this past year as a likely fourth option on the mound behind Roth, James Lear and Steven Whitfield. | |
On the soccer pitch, look for him to help out as a Senior leader on their quest to return to the playoffs and get further than the second round last year. They are looking to get the bad taste of losing to eventual state champion Starkville out of their mouths especially after they had defeated them in an earlier meeting during the regular season.
On the mound, coming into next year he looks like he will be the third option for now behind Roth and Whitfield, who started the majority of the games last year and are both returning. To help out, he has been playing some outfield to likely rotate with the starting pitching, which both Roth and Whitfield have played some outfield last year for Oxford.
Parham is a team-player. He does whatever the coaches tell him to help his team win, whatever he gets noticed doing so or not. If you are out at Edwin Moak Field this year or at Bobby Holcomb Field watching him play soccer, just watch what he can do for the team, it may not show up on the scoreboard or the stat sheet but he does the little things needed to do to help Oxford win. If he is consistent enough, he may have a big role for Oxford in both sports this upcoming season that does show up on the stat sheet.
