#8 - Toler PresleyToler Presley has a lot of pressure on him to follow up the success' of his two older siblings that already went through Oxford High. Mary Virginia Presley (or "V" or Mary "V" or MVP or any other crafty nickname) pictured on the left, Toler's oldest sibling, was one of the main leaders of the Girls Cross Country program and saw the rise of the Girls Track program that finally made it to the top two years after she graduated in 2007 and was the first ever State Champion in the Girls Pole Vault. She made the Hall of Fame at OHS. Curt Presley (pictured right) was a standout in Football, Baseball, and was an All-American on the 4x400 Relay Team in Boys Track and won a pair of State Championships in Boys Track. He was known for his speed while in high school. |
Toler's years so far in high school have been sub-par in those standards set out by his brother and sister. It did not help that he injured his back that cost him the season for Baseball during the spring. He has not won a State Championship thus far. He is the top returning Wide Receiver on the Football team catching 19 balls for 254 yards and 1 TD and also took a punt back for TD last year against Grenada. He is looking to start next year on the Baseball team after having been out last year due to his back problems. His Junior Year was full of injuries and memories that he would like to forget. But watch out, his Senior year, he plans to not make the same things happen. Watch for him to lead a young group of Wide Receivers this year and if all goes well, look for him to be back in the outfield for Baseball, although right now it is doubtful he returns for Baseball after missing last year. There is no question he can make things happen for both Football and Baseball. If he stays injury free in football, he will hold something over his brother and sister. Oxford travels to Clarksdale this year in football, the field (Crumpton Field) is named after his Grandfather Dan E. Crumpton (no joke). Curt was unable to play on it because he had an injury late during his Senior year in his only trip to Clarksdale during his three years in football (his first two years, Clarksdale played at Oxford). Mary Virginia was not able to play on it either. Toler will be the first person in his family to play on the field named after his Grandfather. There's that you can hold over them Toler! | |
