#4 - Maggee Hobson
Maggee Hobson has been starting on the Varsity Volleyball team since she first moved to Oxford before her 8th Grade year.
Hobson moved here at the time Ross Bjork became the new Athletic Director at Ole Miss, because they are related. It has been a good thing for Ole Miss and has been a good thing for the Oxford Volleyball team.
The uncanny arm velocity Hobson holds has been key to many Oxford wins and upsets over the last couple of seasons for the Lady Chargers and broke through to the second round of the Class II playoffs last season.
Hobson led the team with 338 kills last season and had the highest kill percentage on the team with more than 25 attempts. She also led the team in service aces with 121. Despite not usually being in the back row aside from serving, she was third on the team in digs with 211.
Much like Tiara King, Hobson improved in every statistic from a year ago in Girls Basketball. During the 2014-15 season, she averaged 5.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 0.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. During this past season, Hobson averaged 9.4 points (third on the team), 4.2 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. The game that allowed that confidence to happen was her 27 point performance the first game of the year against Calhoun City. She was also big in the 2-5A Tournament scoring 27 points against Saltillo and having her only double-double of the year with 24 points and 10 rebounds against West Point. Hobson was instrumental in leading the Lady Chargers to a 25-5 year last year.
The time to contribute is over for Hobson. Leading the Volleyball team and leading the Girls Basketball team is going to be key for both teams to be successful this season.
