#7 - Will Swindoll
You don't hear a lot about this guy. That might be a good thing. Offensive linemen and Tennis players in high school rarely ever get talked about.
Will Swindoll plays on the offensive line during the football season protecting QB Jack Abraham and is responsible for opening up gaping holes for Oxford's Running Bakcs to run through. He's looking to hopefully get some attention this upcoming season when it comes to deciding which college to attend.
Although he plays the most popular sport in football, a big reason he is on this list is his big-time success in Tennis - a sport where his mom and current Lafayette coach Debbie Swindoll is well-versed in.
Now you are wondering, why on earth is Will at Oxford while his mom works at Lafayette? No better example than to look at the guy currently typing this up who has a dad that coaches Cross Country and Track and Field at LHS yet graduated from Oxford. Their family's property is within the Oxford School District, but could go to Lafayette due to having a family member working at the school. I'm sure he has his personal reasons for staying at Oxford.
On the Tennis front, he is a 5-time individual defending state champion in Boys Doubles, where he has had to deal with different partners each and every time. Five times would put him winning it his 7th and 8th grade years as well. With his family background in Tennis (his mom was a Tennis player at Mississippi State), winning state titles is to be expected. Swindoll has been a large part in maintaining their 8-year run at the sport with his doubles play, as it literally assures Oxford a point in a 7-point match where four points is needed to capture the match. It is what makes beating Oxford in Tennis extremely tough to do. It makes other teams try to find points in four of the other six matches, and with the talent and coaching usually backing this team, that is never easy to do. Just ask Stone County who has been in frustration in reaching the Championship matches and barely winning any points.
While the rings keeps coming in for Tennis, a ring in Football would probably top anything he may earn in Tennis.
