He led the team in rushing as the main running back rushing 124 times for 763 yards and scored 4 touchdowns - all of which led the team.
The four touchdowns is real low for someone who is leading the team in that category. Oxford had a total of 18 rushing touchdowns last season. 8 different Chargers had at least one rushing touchdown. In comparison to how much he ran the ball, he scored once every 31 times rushing the ball. Barnes also had another 17 Catches for 187 yards and a score. Giving him a total of 950 all purpose yards on 141 touches and 5 scores.
Expect Barnes to make a bigger impact than last year as the lead running back and being the best returning player on offense accounting for 21.5% of last year's offense. Especially when it comes to the Red Zone offense where Oxford had a ton of trouble at last year. Barnes also needs to give incoming QB Jack Abraham a nice start so he can feel comfortable throwing the ball if the running game is on.
Barnes is also on the Powerlifting team like many football players are on and have also helped earn a State Championship this past season, the first in school history for the sport. He can do nothing but help out in that sport if he can get up there within his weight class.
Barnes will be a critical part of the Oxford offense next season, Abraham is going to need all the help he can get running this offense within his comfort level. Barnes just needs to do his job - make it easier on Abraham to move this offense.
